Irma Quashie (nee Duncan), fondly known as ‘Tanty Baby’, passed away on December 31, 2020, at the age of 97.
Tanty Baby was born in Plymouth, Tobago on and married Herman Quarshie on December 20, 1948. The couple moved from Tobago to Newtown, Trinidad and after a few years migrated to the US. They resided in Queens, NY for approximately 15yrs during which time Tanty Baby worked as a Nursing Assistant at Boothe Memorial Hospital. She and Uncle Quashie returned to Trinidad in the mid 1980s and settled in the home they built in Glencoe where she lived until her passing.
Tanty Baby is preceded in death by her beloved husband Herman Quashie, her brother Herbert Thompson, nephew Ben Thompson.
She is survived by her nieces Gloria, Odette, Jean, Roberta, Jemma, and Keren; nephews Roy, Dan, George, Roger, and Charles; and many great nieces and nephews. Tanty Baby was a relative of the Duncans, Peters, Quashies, Thompsons, and McKnights.
